"Mommy, my button came off!"
"I have a hole in my pants!"
"I tore my shirt!"
......."Can you fix it?"
We are busy women with a million things to do each day! We are the caregiver, cook, maid, coach, cheerleader, gardener, confidant, handywoman, dog walker, stylist, wife, mom, daughter, sister.....the list goes on and on. We have so many hats to wear that at the end of the day, we just want to drop!
Ahhhh, a few minutes to relax as we run through the list of things that have been accomplished. Let's see, what a wonderful dinner I cooked! The table's been cleared and the dishes are in the dish washer. Lunches are ready for the kids tomorrow. Homework is done (wow, that was fun!). They had their baths. I read them a story, tucked them in, said our prayers and kissed them good night. Whew! Feels good to relax.
Oh, no! I forgot to repair Ryan's favorite shirt. Ugh! And he wanted to wear it for picture day tomorrow. But I'm so tired!! Oh well, it shouldn't take too long and he will be so disappointed if it's not ready.
How often do we feel this way?
We live such busy lives and there is always one more thing to do! But, oh the joy we feel when we do that one little thing. The hug around your neck and the "thanks mom!" Seeing the smile on the face of the person for whom you did that deed is priceless! That chore that you "had" to do, has now transformed into an act of love.
Having experienced this love that a parent feels for a child, I am always amazed at God's act of love for us. How could He possibly love us enough to sacrifice His only Son?
On our own, we could never "do" enough or work hard enough to make us worthy of God's love and grace. By submitting our life to Christ, attempting to live according to God's word and imitating the example set forth by Jesus, we become the beautiful woman that God enables us to be. In doing that, we show our love for Him. The way in which we love our family, love our friends, and love ourselves directly reflect the depth of our love for God.
Isn't love what it's all about?
Thank you, God, for loving us enough to send Your Son to earth.
Thank you, Jesus, for willingly suffering and dying for us.
I can't imagine a greater act of love!!!
"You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:6-8Read More of Romans Chapter 5...
